Georgetown's newspaper, the Blue & Gray, is the University's primary means for communicating University news to faculty and staff. Published every other week during the academic year, and once a month during the summer, the Blue & Gray contains news items and feature articles, as well as regular columns by and about faculty and staff.
Content from the Blue & Gray is used to enrich the Georgetown Web site with news stories, profiles and event coverage of the university community.
Submitting Ideas
Because Blue & Gray's audience includes faculty and staff from the Main Campus, Medical Center, and Law Center, we gear our news stories to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. We encourage you to submit ideas for:
- Profiles of interesting people or programs on the university's three campuses;
- Feature stories about academic or workplace trends, programs or events;
- News articles about program changes, new offerings, policy updates or other "newsy" issues.
- Beyond the Gates column (humor, trivia, etc.)
- Focal Point Q&A column highlights faculty expertise on current issues and trends. Topics could include politics, medicine, spirituality, ethics, popular culture, literature, current events or other issues.
- Research stories cover findings of studies conducted by faculty or staff members or Georgetown-based research centers.
- News briefs run on page one and continue on inside pages. Topics include announcements and other items of interest.
- Newsmakers are short "kudos" for awards, grants, committee appointments, book releases or other news honoring individuals or departments.
- Calendar items list upcoming events.
Submit information and ideas to Anne Glenzer, editor, via e-mail, fax or mail. Deadlines for short items are one week prior to the date of publication. Though we don't always have room to print all information, we do our best to accommodate all requests.
