Georgetown University's world class community of scholars provides insight, analysis and expertise on a wide variety of news and events. Our office can assist University departments and media organization's in capturing or covering events and interviewing our faculty using the following services:
Audio Services
Georgetown University's faculty experts are available for interviews by national and international media over our high-quality ISDN connection. Our facilities are equipped with the Telos Zephyr Xstream using the g.722 (64kbps / 48kHz) transmission mode. All requests to schedule live or pre-recorded broadcast interviews should be made through Georgetown University's Office of Communications at (202) 687-4328.

Video Services
The demand for delivering video on the Web and other carriages, such as satellite or cable, is increasing dramatically. The Office of Communications consults with departments and unites to provide video creators with broadcast standards and general guidelines to assist with the activities of producing and distributing video.
The Office of Communications may be able to facilitate event production and the capturing of your footage with one of our preferred vendors. If you would like assistance with your video production please contact the Office of Communications at (202) 687-4328 for assistance.
Broadcast Standards
Georgetown University broadcast standards for capturing video are: all footage is captured in High Definition (HD) at a minimum of 480p, -- preferably 720p or 1080p -- 16:9 aspect ratio at 29 frames (progressive is preferred over interlaced). By capturing your footage at the highest possible source it will allow for multipurposing of the content whether that be for delivery over the Web, creating a DVD or playout on cable or satellite.
Content must include event title and date in the introduction of the piece and submission should be accompanied by appropriate release forms for non-Georgetown participants acknowledging recording and distribution permissions.
iTunes U Standards
Georgetown on iTunes U may be used to distribute a wide variety of digital content, the following standards are recommended by Georgetown and Apple for best results.
Audio files need to be MP3 (sample rate: 44100Hhz, bit rate: 128kbits/sec) with appropriate file extensions (.m4a, .mp3). Video files need to be MPEG-4 with H.264 compression (resolution: 640 x 480 [4:3 aspect ratio] or 640 x 360 [16:9 aspect ratio], average bit rate: 512kbps) with appropriate file extensions (.mp4, .m4v).
